Entering the world of the giants

The only way to see the park is with the top down and the head way way way back.

How do you take pictures of people and trees? Lie on your back of course.

I love the forest and these trees.

Sequioa june 2009

Shortly after entering Sequioa National park we found the tunnel tree. There was so few people there that we parked in the tunnel for a photo op.

General Sherman in the largest tree in the world based on volume of the trunk not height. And he's still growing. I was impossible to photograph the whole tree and the people too.

The tree in the photo had fallen. The path we were on just passed under the tree with the cool little creek.

This tree had fallen decades ago. The early loggers use the hallow of the tree for a cook house. The hallow was over 100 feet long. Life as a hobbit.

General Grant tree is the national christmas tree. Don't ask me why. I didn't see even one decoration.

Denver Visit with Julia, Steve and boys

Julia and Steve were auditioning for an up coming edition of "Hell's Kitchen". The specialty of the night was a yummy steak salad. Hard to buy anything that good in a restaurant.
How about a dessert of strawberries dipped in chocolate. Calorie counters are not allowed!!

GO GO and the boys had a great time at the zoo with Julia. The only thing that could make it better would have been a motorized stroller. How's that for lazy. But these guy aren't easy to push around all day.

Julia is always bragging about the weather in Denver. How about 18" of snow just for snowman making. Well it wasn't much of a snowman but Grandpa and the Boys did their best. Besides there were lots of distractions like getting pulled around the driveway on a snow scoop, throwing snowballs and hunting down arms and noses (no easy task).

Caught in the act I noticed that Mason had found a whole new place to pack snow. Yes, that would be in the exhaust pipe of Dad's SUV. Notice the excellent body mechanics of the legs and back while pushing.

Glenda and Cooper loved their ride together on the Merry-go-round. It was a wonderful Monday at the zoo with warm weather, no wind and happy kids.

Who could resist a train ride. I don't know why but little boys and girls will remember riding the little train at the zoo when they are taking their own kids there.

Steve loved this video when he saw it the first time. Mason is the great. He really did think of this all by himself. He apparently likes packing things in pipes and noses. What pipes and noses? What other logical thing is there to do with snow and popcorn kernals? Ask Julia and Steve they may have the real insight on this behavior.
